GEOTEXTILES
Nonwoven, woven, high strength, roading fabrics, tubes
Geotextile selection should be made by application. Depending upon the actual strength of the subgrade, geotextiles have the ability to perform several different functions. These range from reinforcement on weak subgrades (CBR 3% or less) to separation on firm foundation soils (CBR 8%) and drainage. Geotextiles are also used in environmental projects for the protection of geomembranes and as ground stabilisation under erosion control fabrics, gabions and mattresses.
Permathene supplies geotextiles for roading (separation, stabilisation) and for drainage. Heavy nonwoven geotexiles are also used for environmental applications such as geomembrane protection, gabion underlay, etc.

Nonwoven polypropylene (PP) geotextiles are made from needle punched polypropylene staple fibre. Fibres are cut, opened, laid onto a web, needled, inspected, tested and rolled. The production technique produces a product described typically as “a nonwoven needle punched geotextile”.
Woven geotextiles are manufactured by extruding polypropylene film and then slitting the film into individual yarns which are then woven to form the geotextile.
Mudstop™ is a roading geotextile supplied by Permathene for over 20 years. It is a permeable, woven polypropylene designed for applications where separation is a major function and strength is not critical. Non-exposure to UV is specified. Typical uses include roading, paved or unpaved. An unpaved road would typically use Mudstop to separate aggregate and gravel from mixing with the soil below.
Syntex high strength woven geotextiles polypropylene (PP) are manufactured in grades from 35 kN to 105 kN and High Strength polyester (PET) from 150 kN to 1250 kN.
High Strength geotextiles are manufactured into tubes for a range of applications including de-watering, artificial reefs, wetland reclamation and shoreline protection.
